Pre-Arrival Offering On One Of the Best Brunellos From 2006

2006 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino

PRE-ARRIVAL

The long awaited new issue of the Wine Advocate is out and especially of interest was Antonio Galloni’s coverage of the monumental 2006 vintage for Tuscany’s Brunello di Montalcino.

What’s the wine to buy from the vintage, if you could only buy one? It has to be the Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino. We tasted it with the importer a month ago and we doubled our order based upon what we tasted. It is an explosive Brunello, built to age with super concentration and structure.

Antonio Galloni called it “one of the stars of the vintage” rating it 96 points, which was the highest rating for a Brunello under $75.

Our price on the 2006 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino is still at the pre-arrival price of 57.99 per bottle! When it arrives in the store it will be at a higher price. This your chance to grab some bottles of one of the best Brunellos from the vintage at a great price!

ARRIVAL EXPECTED JUNE 2011

Antonio Galloni Wine Advocate 96 Points-- Fuligni’s 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the stars of the vintage. Sweet floral notes weave through a core of expressive red fruit as the wine opens up in the glass. The 2006 shows incredible purity and finesse, most notably in its silky, polished tannins. This isn’t a blockbuster, but rather a wine that conquers through its sheer finesse. The wine spent 27 days on the skins. The volume and weight are influenced by the modern school, everything else is traditional all the way. The 2006 is the first vintage in which the percentage of French oak has been dropped to 25%, which has allowed the purity of the fruit to shine through to a degree that I have seldom, if ever, seen here. Rain during June naturally lowered yields and may partly explain why Fuligni’s 2006 is so phenomenal. Simply put, readers won’t want to miss this superb Brunello. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031.

James Suckling 96 Points-- Sweet flowers, with blueberries and blackberries on the nose. Toffee and creme brulee. So complex and subtle with everything there. Full and very velvety with soft and silky tannins and a long, long finish. Beautiful polish to this wine. Best after 2013.
