A Phenomenal 2007 Napa Cabernet from a Legendary Winery

2007 BV Georges de Latour
Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve

Free Shipping on Six or More Bottles

Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour Private Reserve is considered the benchmark for Cabernet Sauvignon from the Rutherford district in Napa Valley.

The 2007 Georges de Latour may be the best wine BV has produced since Gary’s opened in 1987. After tasting the wine for the first time our Bordeaux buyer thought the level of concentration and tannic structure reminded him of tasting 2009 Bordeaux barrel samples, including some of the 2nd Growths!

“The phenomenal 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is the greatest BV Private Reserve made since the 1970 and 1968.”-- Robert Parker

In addition, take a look at what Robert Parker said just last week on Erobertparker.com, “Lots of choices in last December's issue....but at a full retail of $85 the 2007 BV Private Reserve gets special recognition....best reserve cabernet they have made since the early 70s...I bought it.....just proving I do put my money where my mouth goes”

This is truly a great wine and should not be passed up! Parker bought it!

Robert Parker 95 Points -- The phenomenal 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is the greatest BV Private Reserve made since the 1970 and 1968. The good news is 11,000 cases were produced. The return of this superb Napa classic is fabulous news, and the brilliance of this wine is evidenced by its opaque purple color and its big, sweet, blackberry, cassis, subtle smoke, graphite, and spicy oak-scented nose. Dense and full-bodied with sweet but substantial tannins, thrilling levels of concentration, texture, and richness, and a heady finish, this wine will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, and last three decades or more. It’s time to once again fill your cellars with the BV Private Reserve, one of the historic names in California wine folklore.

Among The Highest Rated 2008 St Emilions

2008 Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere
$1 per bottle Shipping on Orders of Six Bottles or More

In our view, Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere is fast becoming the most consistent Chateau in all of St Emilion.

2008 Canon La Gaffeliere received great barrel tasting scores, and now the scores from tastings of the now bottled wine are starting to come out, and they’re even higher! Neal Martin rated it 94 (Barrel score 91-93), the Wine Spectator rated it 93 (Barrel score 89-92), and Robert Parker is coming out with his score next week (Barrel score 91-93). It looks like it has developed beautifully since the barrel tastings. Where will Parker rate it?

How does it stack up to the competition in 2008? Neal Martin rated only two 2008 St Emilions higher-- Cheval Blanc and Ausone, which both sell for $500+. Ausone was the only 2008 rated higher than Canon La Gaffeliere in the Wine Spectator!

One of the highest rated 2008 St Emilions for $59.99 per bottle, which is the lowest price found anywhere in the country right now, and just $1 per bottle on shipping for orders of six or more!

Neal Martin's Wine Journal 94 Points-- Tasted at the UGC 2008 tasting in London. The nose races out of the blocks with black cherries, cassis, Hoi sin and a touch of Chinese 5-spice. Good definition-very confident. The palate is medium-bodied with layers of ripe red fruit: redcurrant, pomegranate, a touch of white pepper and very well integrated oak. Great length and sense of dimension here as it fans out across the finish. Superb! Drink 2013-2025+ Tasted October 2010.

Wine Spectator 93 Points-- Dense and ripe, with flashes of Black Mission fig, Turkish coffee and roasted apple wood running through the dense core of plum sauce, black licorice and currant paste. The long finish has ample depth and grip, with a singe of black tea. A very classy wine. Best from 2013 through 2019. 3,580 cases made.-JM

Robert Parker 91-93 Points-- One of the most consistently high quality offerings from both St.-Emilion and Bordeaux, proprietor Stefan von Neipperg, working with consultant Stephane Derenoncourt, always seems to deliver a beautifully opulent, complex claret that can be drunk young or cellared for 15+ years. I recently had the 1998 and 1990 and, although those two vintages are very different in style, both are classic Canon la Gaffelieres in their complexity, opulence, and richness. The 2008, a blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibits a big, sweet nose of roasted herbs, sweet black currants and cherries, licorice, incense, and Christmas fruitcake. Deep, concentrated fruit, full-bodied opulence, beautiful purity, sweet tannins, and fresh acids give this wine a stunning precision as well as amazing depth (because of the low yields). It should drink well for 15+ years.

Probably the Finest Northern Rhone Vintage Since 1990—Robert Parker (PRE ARRIVAL)

2009 Domaine Durand Cornas "Empreintes" PRE-ARRIVAL

The first of the highly rated 2009 Northern Rhone wines is due to arrive in two weeks. It’s the blockbuster
Cornas “Empreintes” from Eric and Joel Durand. You don’t want to miss out on this beauty. If you like Syrah you absolutely should be buying this. 2009 Domaine Durand Cornas "Empreintes" Here’s Robert Parker discussing the 2009 vintage in the Northern Rhone — “2009 is great (and it truly is) in the northern Rhône. A number of producers who have been making wines for over thirty years claim it is the greatest vintage in their lifetime. I can say that without a doubt it is the finest overall vintage in the north since 1999, and probably since 1990. However, 2009 is different than either of those vintages as it is much more concentrated than 1999, and fresher and more delineated than 1990.” The 2009 Domaine Durand Cornas “Empreintes” is definitely one to buy and put in the cellar. An extremely good deal at just $29.99 per bottle! A potentially 96 point wine!

ARRIVAL EXPECTED MAY 19TH

Robert Parker 93-96 Points--
The blockbuster 2009 Cornas Empreintes appears capable of 20+ years of longevity. A black/purple color is accompanied by copious aromas of blueberries, blackberry liqueur, charcoal, graphite and subtle smoke and incense. Intense, layered, full-bodied and massive with a hint of tannins (they are largely buried by the wealth of fruit and extract), this 2009 will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring after its release and should drink well over the following two decades.

Jay Miller, Wine Advocate 97 Points-- The [2006 Mystery Spanish Red] amps it up considerably. It yields an enthralling, sexy/kinky bouquet of toasty new oak, liquid minerality, lavender, incense, and wild berries. Complex, elegant, and La Tache-like, it appeals to both the senses and the intellect. It is a remarkable effort that should evolve for 5-7 years but is difficult to resist now.

Steven Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 91 Points-- Medium red. Piercing aromas of pomegranate, sour cherry, flowers and leather. Silky, juicy and vibrant, with tangy flavors of sweet/tart cherry and flowers. Distinctly pinot-like in the way it delivers flavor impact without excess weight. Expands nicely on the suave back end, finishing with serious dusty tannins and lingering perfume. This style is remarkably food-friendly.
