Reviews: Wine Advocate, 91 points
Antinori’s flagship Chianti, the 2004 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchesi Antinori, reveals greater depth, vibrancy and freshness. Ripe black cherries, new leather, menthol, smoke and wild herbs flow from this sweet, layered Chianti. The wine is approachable today, but also has the tannic backbone and stuffing to insure another decade or so of very fine drinking. It spent 14 months in small French oak barrels prior to being bottled. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.

A rival to Sancerre: 2007 Domaine de Villalin Quincy

2007 Domaine de Vallalin Quincy Silex

Sancerre is one of the more well known regions in France. But, have you ever heard of Quincy? It's a little region to the south and west
of Sancerre that makes wines made of 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Sounds just like their more well-known friends. The problem is most people have never heard of Quincy. Well, we like to go by quality, not the name on the bottle. So, we purchased about 40 cases after sampling it from a supplier. At a price of $16.99 a bottle, you just might discover a new favorite. Watch Gary and Ivonne taste the Quincy in the video below and give their thoughts.

2006 Ridge Zinfandel York Creek: Lowest price in the country AND free shipping on a case!

2006 Ridge Zinfandel York Creek

Ridge is a very big name in the wine business. They are most well-known for producing some of the best California Cabernet and Chardonnay in the world. But of course, to get the best, it's going to cost you, right? Well, not here at Gary's. While most retailers are selling this at anywhere from $25-30 per bottle, we're selling it at a cool $19.99. But that's not all. We're also throwing in free shipping when you purchase a case. Top it off with a 90 point rating from the International Wine Cellar and you've got yourself an amazing deal. Perfect for your next barbeque, this wine won't be in stock for long.

Reviews: Josh Raynolds, IWC 90 Points

Deep ruby with a bright rim. Raspberry, cherry and cinnamon pn the nose. Brighter than the Paso Robles bottling, with nervier red berry flavors and notes of vanilla and bitter chocolate. medium-bodied zinfandel with fully absorbed tannins and impressive finishing lift. Sexy wine, and drinking well right now.

A Cabernet Franc for under $20: 2006 Wilfrid Rousse Chinon les Puys

2006 Wilfrid Rousse Chinon les Puys

When you hear Cabernet, the varietal "Cabernet Sauvignon" immediately comes to mind. Cabernet Franc, however, is definitely forgotten among the varietals of wine. In fact, John Bonne of the San Francisco Chronicle went so far as to call it "the Rodney Dangerfield of the varietals." It never gets any respect. However, Cabernet Franc is known to get scores that rival even the best Cabernet Sauvignon. Those bottles can fetch up to $50 per bottle. At Gary's, we like to find wines that are the best, but don't break the bank.

We came across this Chinon from the Loire and we absolutely loved it. The 2006 Wilfred Rousse is riper than the 2005 vintage, but with a similar structure. In fact, this wine won a gold medal in Paris last year. The best part is you can grab a gold medal winner for just $19.99. Need more convincing? Watch Gary in the tasting video below:

Ready to drink now: BH 95 pt 2004 Domaine William Fevre Chablis Preuses

2004 Domaine William Fevre Chablis Preuses

Domaine William Fevre is considered one of the more well-known Chablis producers in the world. Their wines consistently score high with critics such as Robert Parker, Stephen Tanzer, and Burghound. Now, when it came time for us to purchase a William Fevre Chablis, we were offered either the 2007 or the 2004. We picked the 2004 simply because it's drinking well now. Chablis can age for a long time, and we're impatient. Check out the video below to see Gary's thoughts on the '04, then head over to GarysWine.com and pick up a bottle on sale for $64.99.
Reviews: Burghound 95 Points

As I suggested in my in-barrel review, this had the potential to be a first rate stunner of a wine and it has indeed come together. In fact, I see no need to modify the original note, which I repeat here other than to point out that as good as the Valmur and Vaudésir, there is another dimension present here. Green fruit and citrus aromas with a subtle trace of quinine serve to highlight round, sweet and powerful flavors that possess enormous depth of material and the vibrancy of the finish is flat out unbelievable. In a sense, this is a deceptive wine in that no more than the finish appears to be winding down then it picks up again. At present, this is the longest and most persistent wine in the range and while this aspect is subject to change with time, it is a dazzling effort that vies credibly for top honors. I could still taste this wine the next day!

WA 91 point 2005 San Cristobal Ribera del Duero--Free Shipping with Purchase of a Case

2005 San Cristobal Ribera del Duero

You can never have too much of a good thing. When we brought in the 2004 San Cristobal Ribera del Duero, we sold out of it very quickly. Our customers, even though they had never heard of this wine before, quickly became fans of this wine. With the 2005 vintage, San Cristobal looks to have a repeat of its past success. It garnered a 91 point rating from the Wine Advocate, saying it is more structured than the 2004. At $19.99, this is a great buy. To sweeten the deal, we're throwing in free shipping when you purchase a case. Be sure to check out the full Wine Advocate review below as well as a video of Gary tasting the '05 San Cristobal and offering his thoughts on it. Cheers!

Reviews: WA 91+ points

The 2005 Conde San Cristobal is the same blend as the 2004 and received the same oak treatment. It is a bit less fragrant and more marked by oak. On the palate it is more backward and structured, needing at least 3-5 years to show its best stuff. Aside from that, it has a similar flavor profile and a long, pure finish. Drink it through 2025.

It's All The Rage: IWC 92 Point 2008 Commanderie de Peyrassol Chateau Peyrassol Cotes de Provence Rose

At Gary's, we're committed to giving you what you want. Now, it's said that actions speak louder than words. You've told us what you wanted, and we listened. So by popular demand, we bring you the 2008 Chateau Peyrassol Cotes de Provence Rose. With it's light color and taste, it's the perfect wine to pour at your next cocktail party. If that's not enough, Josh Raynolds from Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar gave it a 92 point score. Top it off with a price of $21.99, and you've got one of the best deals so far this Summer. But hurry! We only have 20 cases in stock. With the popularity of Rose these days, who knows how long it'll last.

Reviews: Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar, 92 Points

Light salmon-skin color. Pungent, mineral-driven bouquet of redcurrant, blood orange, jasmine, anise and spices. Dry, focused and taut on entry, gaining flesh with air and offering nervy red berry and citrus flavors. Musky herbs add depth and chalky minerality lends bite to the long, brisk finish. This wine's energy is impressive. I'd love to see this with a fresh sheep's milk cheese.

WS 90 Point 2007 Momo Pinot Noir from New Zealand

2007 Momo Pinot Noir

When we think of Pinot Noir, we think of regions like Burgundy or the Willemette Valley in
Oregon. However, there's an up-and-comign region that has everyone taking notice: New
Zealand. Pinot Noir is a grape that requires certain conditions to grow, such as a cooler climate. The conditions down in New Zealand have proven to be great, making for some great Pinot. In fact, Wine Spectator gave Momo a 90 point score. Furthermore, you can watch Gary give his thoughts on Momo in the video
below. We think that with the $19.99 price, you'll agree that this Pinot is well worth it.

Reviews: Wine Spectator, 90 Points

Soft and round, with a lively bead of blackberry, plum and spice flavor bouncing easily over silky tannins as the finish persists enticingly. Has style and transparency. Drink now through 2014. 3,000 cases made. –HS

Two heads are better than one: 2007 Chateau Ste. Michelle Eroica Riesling

2007 Chateau Ste. Michelle Eroica Riesling

It is often said that two heads are better than one. Look at great collaborations and see what they have accomplished. The same thing could be said about wine, too. The collaboration of Chateau Ste. Michelle in Washington and Dr. Loosen in Germany has resulted in the 2007 Eroica Riesling. The critics say this wine was definitely a great pairing, resulting in scores ranging from 91-93 points. Check out the reviews below

Reviews

91 points - Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, July 2008
The 2007 Eroica Riesling, made in collaboration with the Dr. Loosen estate in Germany's Mosel region, is light to medium straw-colored with fragrant aromas of spring flowers, mineral, and honeysuckle. Crisp and just off-dry, in a Kabinett style, it delivers flavors of melon and pineapple. The wine is balanced and vibrant and may well evolve for several years in the manner of a top German Mosel Kabinett. It can be enjoyed now and over the next 5-7 years.

91 points - Wine Spectator, June 2008
Bright and juicy, with bracing acidity against lightly sweet, expressive pear, apricot and quince aromas and flavors, remaining vibrant as the finish lingers. There's a slate character lurking in the background, too.

93 points - Wine & Spirits, August 1, 2009
Eroica, the joint venture between Dr. Loosen and Chateau Ste. Michelle, produced a focused, ethereal and pure 2007. This vintage is a blend of fruit from Evergreen, Viewcrest, Horse Heaven and other vineyards. Its aromas are all about citrus, with hints of lemon and tangerine, while the taut flavors are more pearlike. A fine, mineral finish gives the wine balance and poise.

93 pt 2005 Hesketh Shiraz Ususal Suspects--Free Shipping on a Case!

2005 Hesketh Shiraz Usual Suspects

In keeping with wines that are good for Summer, a Shiraz should be very high on your list. These wines pair great with any kind of barbequed meat, perfect for firing up the grill. Well if it's any country that knows a good Shiraz, it's the Australians. Noted Australian wine critic Tim White gave this Shiraz, the 2005 Hesketh Usual Suspects, 93 points. If you've never heard of Tim White, he's among the more noted wine critics in Australia, right up there with James Halliday. So, a 93 point rating from Tim is certainly a great seal of approval. This Shiraz is definitely worth picking up. Plus, if you get a case, we'll throw in free shipping!

Reviews

Australian Wine Critic, Tim White 93 Points

A bit pongy to begin but blows off quickly to reveal plenty of cassis and spice and some black pepper, which is unusual for McLaren Vale shiraz. Some peach kernel too. Attacks with cassis and plums, and some more candied peach-like stuff. Perfectly balanced dry tannins balance the sweet fruit and there's subtle oak toastiness too. A damn tasty shiraz.

RP 90-93 pt 2007 Domaine Palon Vacqueyras on sale now for $19.99

2007 Domaine Palon Vacqueyras

One of the great benefits of traveling to France is, of course, trying all the various wines from the many wine-producing regions. Our wine buying team did just that back in March of this year when they went in search of a Vacqueyras. During their time in the Rhone, they came across this on from Domaine Palon. When they recorded their findings, they knew that this one was the clear winner. And we give winners the star treatment here at Gary's. You can grab yourself a bottle of this beauty for $19.99, 20% off the original price. For more information, check out Robert Parker's review below:

Reviews: Robert Parker 90-93 points

The 2007 Vacqueyras (a blend of 75% Grenache, 16% Mourvedre, and 9% Syrah) is excellent. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of black currants, black cherries, licorice, smoky roasted herbs, and meat. This full-bodied, plump, succulent effort is a hedonistic Provencal wine that should provide enormous pleasure over the next 5-6 years. Domaine Palon owns 45 acres of vines in the southern Cotes du Rhone, with 12.5 in Vacqueyras.

Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, June 2007, - 91 points
The 2003 Sideral, a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 4% Syrah and 2% Sangiovese, is purple-colored with aromas of toasty black currante, cedar and spice box. This is followed by a smoothly textured wine with ripe red and black fruits, spicy flavours and soft tannins. The wine is forward enough to be enjoyed now but will evolve for several years.
