2003 Altair Sideral

When a wine gets consistently high ratings from reputable wine reviewers, that usually means that you have shell out quite a few bucks to get your hands on a bottle, let alone a case. Gary's Wine & Marketplace has the 2003 Altair Sideral for $19.99 per bottle. This Chilean wine got a 91 point rating from Wine Advocate, a 91 point rating from Wine Enthusiast, and a 95 point rating from Wine and Spirit. The critics all agree that this is a great bottle of wine. Read the reviews below to see for yourself. Add to that the $19.99 price tag and you've got yourself a steal.

Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, June 2007, - 91 points
The 2003 Sideral, a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 4% Syrah and 2% Sangiovese, is purple-colored with aromas of toasty black currante, cedar and spice box. This is followed by a smoothly textured wine with ripe red and black fruits, spicy flavours and soft tannins. The wine is forward enough to be enjoyed now but will evolve for several years.

95 points - Wine & Spirit, 2005
'Stylish plummy and perfumed nose with notes of toffee. Finely balanced and complex with great concentration'

91 points - Wine Enthusiast (Nov 2005)
'Finely oaked, with lovely cedar scents accenting robust but smooth black cherry and dark plum aromas. Sings a pretty tune in the mouth, with ripe berry fruit, tobacco, toast and a long finish. A significant step up from the first vintage'
