There has been a lot of chatter in anticipation of the release of the 2006 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino ever since people saw the quality of their Tuscan “little brothers”, the 2006 Chianti Classicos, when they were released. It may be the best Brunello vintage in the last two decades. Here are some of the critics' comments on the vintage....
“The 2006 vintage for Brunello di Montalcino is the new benchmark for this famous Tuscan appellation and the Sangiovese grape…..” James Suckling, jamessuckling.com “Based on what I tasted in barrel last year and what I have tasted so far in bottle, 2006 is shaping up to be an exceptional year for Brunello di Montalcino...” Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate Among the first to arrive in our stores is the 2006 La Serena Brunello di Montalcino. Of the wine critics, only James Suckling, who was the Italian reviewer for the Wine Spectator until he left to do his own wine web site, has rated it so far. But he did give it an enormous 96 point score! The Wine Sepctator and Antonio Galloni are sure to follow with a big scores, maybe even higher than the 96 from Suckling. Buy it now before a bigger score comes out! At just $44.99 with $1 per bottle shipping on 6 or more, it’s a buy you shouldn’t miss!

James Suckling 96 Points
-- I am impressed with the minerals, blackberries and dried flowers on the nose. Lavender too. Full body, with masses of fruit and tannins, yet refined and polished. Incredibly decadent. Made from organic grapes. Please don’t touch this until 2015.
