Wine Spectator’s Highest Rated 2007 Barbaresco Under $50!

2007 Moccagatta Barbaresco Basarin
Lowest Price in the Country!

There has been great anticipation for the arrival of the 2007 Barolos, with the many comparisons to the outstanding 2000 vintage, known for its early drinkability and soft tannin structure. There’s another region in Piedmont, that’s often overlooked, called Barbaresco that makes world class wines with the same Nebbiolo grape as Barolo. Barbarescos are generally released a year earlier and often are more flamboyant in style compared to Barolo, with sweeter fruit and tannins.

We’ve got one of the best from 2007 at a great price. The 2007 Moccagatta Barbaresco Basarin is just $39.99 per bottle. The Wine Spectator awarded it 95 points making it the highest rated 2007 Barbaresco under $50!

The Moccagatta Barbaresco Basarin is sourced from Nebbiolo vineyards with 40+ year old vines with a south-facing exposure at an altitude of about 800 feet, and then vinified by Franco and Sergio Minuto to be the most forward and approachable of their three legendary Barbarescos.

We have the 2007 Moccagatta Barbaresco Basarin for you at 39.99 per bottle, which is the lowest price in the country!

"With a touch of oak adding sweetness and spice, this red is totally seductive, from the floral, cherry and licorice aromas and flavors to the supple texture and harmony to the lingering aftertaste of sweet fruit and spice. Ripe and charming, with a soft feel to the dense tannins. Best from 2013 through 2032. 833 cases made."-BS

Antonio Galloni Wine Advocate 92 Points

"The 2007 Barbaresco Basarin flows across the palate with elegant layers of perfumed fruit. Silky tannins frame the round fruit through to the long, generous finish. This isn’t the last word in complexity, but it is one of the most flat-out delicious 2007 Barbareschi I tasted. Floral, minty notes add complexity on the finish. The Basarin is a great choice for drinking now and over the next decade or so, but it will be even better in another year or two, once the French oak integrates a bit more. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2022. This is a beautiful set of wines from the Minuto brothers. The wines show terrific balance and harmony."
