Yonna is the result of the collaboration between Mounir Saouma, winemaker and owner of the Burgundy negociant Lucien Le Moine, and Javier Luzon, the manager of Bodegas San Juan Bautista in Campo de Borja in Spain.
This was tasted recently in the store next to a 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape and the Yonna held it's own. It actually reminded our French wine buyer of a Gigondas with a couple years of bottle age. Very complex with blueberries, some earthiness, and minerality. It's a blend of 40% Grenache (100 year old vines) and 60% Tempranillo (40 year old vines).

Bright purple color. Expansive, captivating aromas of blackberry, blueberry and boysenberry complicated by sexy oak spices, minerals and sassafras. Energetic and pure, offering a remarkable range of sweet berry flavors with complementary spice and mineral notes. There are no rough edges to this supple, elegant beauty. Finishes silky and long, with impressive purity. A blend of 60% tempranillo and 40% grenache, the latter vines almost a century old.
