Hartford Court's Land's Edge Vineyards Pinot Noir is sourced from vineyards along very edge of the Pacific Coast of Sonoma. Here, the cold climate reduces the Pinot Noir crop to miniscule amounts (only the strong survive!), which are often picked late into the chilly month of November. The cool and frequently fog-laden coastal climate ensures natural acidity in the berries, which leads to purity, balance and layers of complexity. Expect notes of red berries and cherries, nutmeg and allspice and a very smooth finish. The previous vintage received 96 points from Wine Enthusiast and landed #7 in their Top 100 Wines of the Year ... who knows what this vintage will score!

Tasting Notes
Complex aromas of ripe cherries, violets and cedar are followed by flavors of perfectly ripe, firm black cherries and mixed red and black berries. Allspice and coffee notes complement a long, multi-faceted finish in this "True Sonoma Coast" Pinot Noir.

The primary source of fruit for Land's Edge Pinot Noir is our estate's Annapolis Vineyard, located along the windswept northern part of the Sonoma Coast Mountain Range overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The 2006 Pinot Noir Land's Edge is a multi-vineyard blend from coastal sites that is also somewhat austere and lean. Its dark ruby color is accompanied by notes of pomegranate, wild strawberries, and roasted herbs. All of these 2006s should be consumed over the next 2-3 years as I do not believe they will age well.
