Recent Releases on 2009 Bordeaux Futures at Gary's Wine and Marketplace NJ Wine Store

We traveled to Bordeaux for the annual "en primeur" tastings, and after sampling some 500+ barrel samples we feel confident in saying that there are many great wines. While there are some wines which didn't rise up to quality we expect, there are lots of tremendous wines in every appellation and price level. Our selections are based on what we tasted, choosing only the best in every region and price range to offer our customers.

Here are five new offerings including four tremendous values falling under $35 per bottle and then one extremely limited and highly rated Pomerol from the Moueix stable (owners of Petrus).

2009 Chateau Tauzinat l'Hermitage St Emilion

Review: So perfumed and pretty on the nose, with flowers and sweet berry. Full-bodied, with a silky texture, fine tannins and a balance of attractive fruit.

2009 Chateau La Croix Lartigue Cotes de Castillon Size: 750 ml
Ratings: WS 92-95
Review: Black licorice and dark chocolate aromas. Full-bodied, with lots of juicy fruit and a coffee, cocoa finish. Serious tannin structure as well. A small-production wine from the team of Stéphane Derenoncourt, who are all leasing the property. First made in 2008. -J.S.

2009 Chateau Poujeaux Moulis en Medoc

Size: 750 ml
Ratings: WS 93-96
Review: Full and very velvety, with round and juicy tannins. Creamy. New ownership here is really making a difference in wine quality; this is the best ever after maybe the 1929.
Price: $28.99
Reg: $37.99
ON SALE!

2009 Chateau Haut Bergey Rouge
Size: 750 ml
Ratings: RP 92-94
Review: One of the best over-achieving, value-priced wines in Pessac-Leognan, Haut-Bergey's vineyard enjoys a superb location near Malartic-Lagraviere and Domaine de Chevalier. Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest primarily Cabernet Franc and a dollop of Petit Verdot, the opaque purple-hued 2009 reveals a big, exuberant nose of charcoal, black currants, sweet cherries, and graphite. Dense and full-bodied, with beautiful purity, texture, and length, it should drink well for 20+ years. (Tasted two times.) P.S. I also tasted the brilliant 2000 Haut-Bergey in March, 2010, and it was still a youngster in terms of its development. Drink 2010-2030.
Price: $31.99
Reg: $40.00
ON SALE!

2009 Chateau Providence Pomerol
Size: 750 ml
Ratings: WS 95-98
Review: Offers fabulous aromas of crushed blackberry and blueberry, with lightly roasted coffee bean and black olive. Full-bodied, delivering polished, chewy tannins and a long, juicy finish. Rich and powerful. Blockbuster. Roasted fruit on this. Best ever from here? -J.S.
Price: $114.99
Reg: $145.00
