We discovered one of the hottest Pinot Noirs from New Zealand. The 2007 vintage of the Martinborough Te Tera Pinot Noir beat out 90 other Pinot Noirs at various price ranges to become the Champion Pinot Noir at one of the biggest competitions in New Zealand. The judges for the competition were all Masters of Wine.The 2008 was just released and we took in our first shot of the wine with 100 cases arriving only a couple of weeks ago. The 2008 vintage in New Zealand has been called exceptional for Pinot Noir and probably a better vintage than the 2007. The winery sells this wine for $28.80. Gary's price is $19.99!
From 27 year old vines. The nose is bursting with dark plum and spicy notes. Big and round with plum, berry, and some cherry. A wine with great depth and concentration with a long finish. And the wine gets better and better once it's been opened. Tasted it three times over a couple hours.
