Wine Advocate
Robert Parker recently released his latest Wine Advocate including his report on the 2008 vintage in Bordeaux. He sees many wines from 2008 rivaling their 2005s.
"... the quality of the 2008 vintage turned out to be excellent, with a number of superb wines that are close to, if not equal to the prodigious 2005 or 2000 vintages (two years with many of the best wines I have ever tasted from top to bottom)"
Reviews
Robert Parker 94-97 points
This sensational effort displays massive concentration, extraordinary intensity, and soaring aromatics of roasted coffee, barbecued meats, graphite, blackberries, and cassis, dense fruit, full body, excellent purity, nuance, and unlimited potential complexity as well as longevity. This limited production cuvee, a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, ranks alongside Branon's sensational 2000. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2025.
International Wine Cellar 89-92 Points
Deep ruby. Cabernet franc-influenced aromas of violet, delicate coffee and chocolate. Enters the mouth tight and firm, with deep, youthfully closed flavors of spicy plum, dark chocolate and oaky torrefaction. Then finishes quite firm and a touch lean. This wine is produced by Helene Garcin from two choice hectares planted on sandy gravel over clay-one entirely merlot, the other a promiscuous mix of 45-year-old vines of both cabernet varieties, though Garcin notes that the franc is the more abundant one.
