If you're looking for a grand cru Chablis look-alike from California, this wine from the fabulous limestone soils of the James Berry Vineyard in Paso Robles has incredible chalky, crisp, stone-like notes, dazzling texture, lots of white peach, white currant, quince, and lemon oil notes, a sensational purity, and a remarkably long finish with good acidity. If there is any oak being used in this cuvee, I certainly didn't smell or taste it. Bravo to Doug Polaner, who put this special cuvee together for his company.
