The rave reviews keep coming in for Hamilton Russell Chardonnay. This is a South African Chardonnay that drinks like a cross between a top notch Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and a fine white Burgundy.

Stephen Tanzer, known to be a highly critical reviewer, rated the previous two vintages at 92 points, and in both cases referenced a similarity to Burgundy with comments such as “minerality that reminded me of Chardonnay from the Meursault/Puligny district” and “like a hypothetical blend of Meursault and Chassagne.”

Try to resist temptation and cellar this for several years. Drink 2012-2020."
